Joshua Shancer is an associate at Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP. He focuses his practice on high stakes cases involving the dissolution of marriage, parentage disputes, relocation, orders of protection, grandparent visitation and complex financial matters. As a zealous advocate for his clients, Joshua regularly serves as lead counsel on cases and has built a reputation for vigorously and successfully defending clients in contentious cases. In addition to being well-versed in complex financial matters, Joshua ensures active communication with his clients is maintained through all stages of litigation.  

In addition to his successful litigation practice, Joshua is a skilled negotiator who has settled countless complex dissolution of marriage and parentage cases through direct negotiation and mediation. Joshua has previously been chosen as a third-party mediator to handle and successfully resolve complex contract disputes between business partners. Using his prior experience in estate planning, real estate, and mediation, Joshua is well-versed in assisting clients through the number of legal issues that arise during litigation.  

Joshua brings multiple years of family law experience to Schiller DuCanto & Fleck, having previously worked as an associate at other Chicago-based family law firms where he gained invaluable experience advocating for clients in Cook, Will, Lake, DuPage and LaSalle Counties in Illinois.

Joshua earned his Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law in 2018. During his law school career, he was a recipient of the CALI Award in Trial Advocacy II, worked as a staff writer and editor for the Law Journal of Art, Technology and IP, and served as a former President of DePaul Law School Decalogue Society. Joshua received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Indiana University in 2015.
