Gregory Maksimuk is an Illinois divorce and family law attorney and a Partner at Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP. He represents clients in DuPage, Kane, Will, Cook, and surrounding Illinois counties in complex divorce, high-net-worth divorce, and family law matters.
Gregory focuses his practice on complex and high-net-worth divorce cases involving substantial assets, closely held business interests, and sophisticated executive compensation. He advises C-suite executives, business owners, professionals, and their spouses on property and asset division, stock options, income determination, employment agreements, and qualified and nonqualified benefits. He also represents parents in complex child custody and parenting time disputes.
Complex divorce can create significant uncertainty, especially when financial security, business interests, executive compensation, or parenting decisions are at stake. Gregory works closely with each client to define priorities, evaluate the legal and practical consequences of available options, and set realistic expectations. His responsive, highly communicative approach helps clients stay informed and actively involved at every stage.
As an experienced family law negotiator, mediator, and trial attorney, Gregory develops a strategy tailored to the facts, goals, and risks of each case. He pursues negotiated divorce settlements and other cooperative resolutions when they can protect a client’s interests. When settlement is not appropriate, he is prepared to litigate complex financial and parenting issues. His approach combines detailed preparation, strategic thinking, and strong courtroom advocacy with a focus on efficient resolution.
Gregory has held leadership roles in the Illinois legal profession and his community, including President of the Kane County Bar Association, Director of the Kane County Bar Foundation, member of the Illinois State Bar Association Assembly, and board member of CASA of DuPage County. He completed advanced matrimonial litigation training through the American Bar Association’s Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute and has also received mediation training.
