Family law matters are as varied and unique as the individual families involved in the proceedings.  Evan D. Whitfield’s diverse family, educational and professional backgrounds give him the perspective and tools to translate a client’s questions, interests and concerns into clearly stated and achievable goals.  Mr. Whitfield’s ability to plainly articulate his goals and visualize himself achieving those goals helped him reach high levels in the athletic arena: [He is an Olympian and retired professional soccer player, having competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and played in both Belgium and the United States].

Mr. Whitfield applies the same attributes that brought him success in Olympic, International and Domestic competitions to his practice of family law.  A fierce competitor, Evan excels in the courtroom litigating complex financial and custody matters; however, years involved in team environments allow him to recognize when collaboration serves the client’s goals more effectively.

Mr. Whitfield utilizes the focus, determination and perseverance gained during his years of professional competition to assist athletes, entertainers, professionals, business persons, and their spouses and significant others achieve their goals.

Mr. Whitfield received his Bachelor of Arts in Biological Anthropology & Anatomy with a focus in Primatology from Duke University.  He played professional soccer for K.A.A. Gent in Belgium’s 1st Division and domestically for the Chicago Fire and Real Salt Lake in Major League Soccer.  While playing, Mr. Whitfield earned a Masters of Arts in Organizational Management and later, after retirement, earned his law degree from DePaul University with an emphasis in Family Law.

Mr. Whitfield was recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine, an “Emerging Lawyer” by Leading Lawyers and a “Best Lawyer” by Best Lawyers in America. He was also a monthly contributor to the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin in which he wrote articles about the unique interplay between sports and entertainment professionals, their significant others and family law issues.  Mr. Whitfield is also on the young professionals board of Good Sports, Inc., which donates brand new sports equipment to children in need to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
