Brittany Heitz Goodlett

Brittany Heitz Goodlett uses her passion for the law and her background studying families to zealously advocate for her clients and counsel them through an emotional and trying time in their lives.  Mrs. Goodlett uses her creativity and analytical abilities to create paths to success for her clients, and she approaches every case with the clients’ unique circumstances and goals in mind.

Mrs. Goodlett began her career at Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP as a law clerk in 2009 and became an associate in 2011.  She focuses her practice on complex financial and custody disputes.

Mrs. Goodlett received a Bachelor of Science degree in 2008 from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she studied child development and family studies.  During her undergraduate studies, Mrs. Goodlett worked as an extern for CASA, the guardian ad litem for Champaign County, where she assisted in representing the legal interests of abused and neglected children. 

Mrs. Goodlett continued her focus on family-related matters at DePaul University College of Law, where she focused exclusively on family law.  She received multiple CALI awards for earning the highest grade in a particular course, including awards in Family Law Legal Drafting, Trial Advocacy, and Constitutional Law.  As the recipient of a family law fellowship from the Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP Family Law Center, Mrs. Goodlett was awarded an internship at LifeSpan Center for Legal Services, where she assisted in the representation of victims of domestic violence in divorce, custody, orders of protection, and immigration matters.  Mrs. Goodlett used her 711 law school license to participate in the Family Law Clinic, where she reached favorable outcomes for her clients in divorce and domestic violence matters. 

As the Symposium Editor for the DePaul Law Review, Volume 60, and an extern for the Honorable Wayne R. Andersen, United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (retired), Mrs. Goodlett sharpened her ability to analyze intricate legal issues and effectively communicate a desired result.  Mrs. Goodlett also served as the Legislative Liaison for the YLS Family Law division of the Chicago Bar Association.
